Let’s talk about the Data Protection Officer!
There are lots of things you can do yourself. Whether that always makes sense, however, is another matter.
We will first help you determine whether you are required to appoint a data protection officer under Article 37 of the GDPR or Article 38 of the BDSG. The next question is whether you should carry out this role internally or outsource it.

The role of data protection officer must be carried out with care and expertise. Does it really make sense for your company to assign someone to this role who builds up and maintains the necessary knowledge solely for your company – as a one-off, so to speak?
Or would it make more sense for you to appoint an external data protection officer who can handle this on an ongoing basis and draw on practical experience from other companies and sectors?

Please also note that a company data protection officer enjoys protection against dismissal in the course of their duties.
